Dwayne’s Pro Tip – Fantini Terna

Back to blog

Fantini has been around since 1947, giving the business a wealth of experience and industry-leading knowledge. “Fantini” is synonymous with the word chainsaw in the industry. Fantini produces the best quarry chainsaws in the market. Their quarry chainsaws are built for extracting natural stones and will help you increase productivity.

If you find yourself in a situation where your bar gets stuck while operating a Fantini Terna machine, it’s important to follow these steps to prevent any damage to your gearbox. Here’s a pro tip from our Service Technician, Dwayne, to get your bar unstuck safely:

  1. Remove the tensioner kit: Begin by carefully removing the tensioner kit from your Fantini Terna machine. This step is crucial as it allows you to release any tension in the system, making it easier to address the stuck bar.
  1. Undo the bolts on the backside: Locate the 3 or 4 bolts on the machine’s backside. Carefully loosen and remove these bolts, ensuring that the plate they hold in place can fall off. This action will create the necessary space to address the stuck bar.
  1. Disengage the chain from the sprocket: Once the plate has been removed, take the time to ensure that the chain is fully disengaged from the sprocket. This step is essential as it allows the bar to be separated from the main driving mechanism of the machine.
  1. Decide on the best approach: At this point, you have a couple of options to free the stuck bar. One effective method is to move the machine away from the stuck bar while keeping the bar stationary. This approach utilizes the machine’s mobility to release the bar without applying excessive force or causing damage to the gearbox. If this isn’t working, get in touch with Dwayne at 843-368-8052 for any help.

By following these steps, you can effectively address a stuck bar on a Fantini Terna machine while minimizing the risk of damaging the gearbox. However, always prioritize safety and consult the manufacturer’s guidelines or seek professional assistance if you encounter any difficulties or uncertainties.
